They’re terms that were created to refer to us but aren’t terms we use as self descriptors often, except maybe BPOC. “BPOC/POC” or “African American” isn’t something we typically call ourselves in our day to day lives. I’d say for the most part, black Americans prefer to be called black than any of these like… dancing around the subject terms. A colorblind society is not one where “we’re totally oblivious to differences in race” but one where “we don’t let our differences define how we treat others” I’m biracial and I prefer to be referred to as black rather than African-American, as does my family.
